Critical Sustainability

We understand critical sustainability in two complementary senses. First, an interdisciplinary approach to the climate crisis that moves beyond mainstream, market-based solutions and treats environmental breakdown as inseparable from other social struggles. Second, the practice of creating spaces in which people can re-imagine alternatives to the polluting socio-economic status quo.

We welcome contributions that interrogate dominant sustainability paradigms, examine the entanglement of ecological and social injustice, or explore alternative imaginaries and practices.
